Many of us are lucky enough to have positive, affirming relationships in our personal and professional lives. 

The coaching relationship is unique, however, and offers the possibility of enrichment in different ways: It is designed as a positive alliance between coach and client; it is a dedicated space, wholly about your change agenda.  Whether the coaching involves personal or professional development – or both – the relationship is exclusively interested in your progress in the priority areas that are identified by you. As well as being unique, the coaching relationship is spacious: There is room for self-doubt and uncertainty; for plans and action; there is room for ambition and growth; for fear and failure; there is room to reinvent and reframe; there is room for values as well as worth; for being as well as doing; for challenging and affirming; for brainstorming and simply storming; for empowerment and for accountability; for performance and effectiveness; for learning and letting go. There is room to be authentic and accepted

Gain clarity on how to become more effective in your current job, or envision the next role and plan the necessary steps to get there.

Become more resourceful in the face of uncertainty or challenging events.

Build greater awareness about your strengths, talents and potential blind spots.

Reflect on the relationships and the dimensions of your life in which you feel empowered and manage those in which you feel less so.

 

Explore when you feel most fulfilled, what helps you thrive and how to spend more time doing it.

Recognise  when you are repeating patterns of behaviour that do not serve you and understand how to take more constructive action personally or professionally.

Regain some control and direction instead of feeling overwhelmed by your job, your business or relationships.

Become more resilient, pursue personal wellbeing and reclaim a sense of purpose.

Create goals and take self-directed action toward the future you want.

Some practicalities:

I generally work with clients over several months. Although, some career transition work involves supporting clients preparing for an imminent job opportunity and may involve a more compressed timeframe. Equally, some wellbeing and resilience work may occur over a longer period depending on the nature of the challenges the client is working through.

A coaching session typically lasts from 90 minutes – 2 hours in duration by agreement. Coaching sessions ideally take place away from the pressures and distractions of the client’s everyday environment. The office space I use for client meetings is in Maynooth, Co. Kildare, or by arrangement at other locations.
